New Course Superintendent Joins TFP

Dear TFP Members,

The golf course maintenance department would like to welcome the new Course Superintendent, Kyle Johnson to our staff.

Kyle comes to us from East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, GA where he spent three and a half years as an Assistant Superintendent. During his tenure there, Kyle was instrumental in helping prepare the course for 4 Tour Championships (the final tournament of The Fedex Cup).

Before his time at East Lake Golf Club, Kyle was at Augusta National Golf Club (ANGC) in Augusta, GA where he participated in preparing for 4 Masters Tournaments.  Kyle also helped with the construction and grow-in of the “Tournament Range” at ANGC. The Tournament Range is a cutting edge practice facility utilized during the Masters Tournament that has gained nationwide notoriety for its attention to detail, its ability to accommodate versatile shot making for practice and its welcoming view sheds and beauty for Patrons to enjoy.

Kyle has a degree in Golf Course Management from Florida Gateway College and a degree in Turfgrass Science from Pennsylvania State University.  Kyle is an avid fan of golf course architecture and enjoys reading and studying golf course design.  Kyle has been on a golf course most of his life, as his father is a Class A golf professional in Tampa, FL.  When he is not playing golf, Kyle enjoys ice hockey and spending time with his dog Keira, a black lab rescue dog who is a year and a half old.

We are very excited to have Kyle joining our team at The Ford Plantation.  If you see Kyle on property, please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself.

Thank you,

Nelson
Director of Golf Course Maintenance
